February Meeting

Cambridgeshire artist, Angus Ballantine, will be demonstrating at our meeting on Wednesday, 15th February. Angus is a self taught artist who adapts his style depending on the subject and he loves painting everything from landscapes to traction engines. He is a keen demonstrator for art societies and as an antidote to the current cold weather will be painting a summer cricket scene in watercolour.

Middleton Hall Exhibition

We have booked Middleton Hall for an exhibition starting 13th May through to 4th June. The Hall is normally open to visitors on Sunday afternoons but will also be open on the Bank Holiday Monday, 4th June. The room used for exhibitions is a large well lit room, quite capable of hanging larger canvases.

Forms will be handed out at Wednesday’s meeting and need to be filled by anyone who wishes to exhibit.

January Meeting

We are very pleased to be having a return visit from Terry Harrison this Wednesday, 18th January. Terry needs little introduction as he is a prolific and popular demonstrator who is very well known through his many books, DVD’s and TV series. Terry’s demonstrations are always well attended so make sure you don’t miss it. Terry will be demonstrating a landscape in acrylics.

Patchings 2012 - Date for the diary

We are arranging a coach to visit the Patchings Festival 2012 on Saturday 16th June. The coach will be free for Society members. For anyone who is unaware of Patchings it takes place at Calverton near Nottingham and is one of the major outdoor art, craft and design events in the country. Many of our members have previously attended and would heartily recommend it. The Patchings Festival website currently has information on the 2011 Festival but will have information on 2012 nearer the time.

More details will follow but put the date in your diary.

November Meeting

Eric Watson will be making a return visit to the Society at our next meeting this Wednesday, 16th November. Eric last visited us in July 2009 and people were amazed by his lifelike animal studies. He uses a combination of pastel, pencil, acrylic, gouache and watercolour to build up detailed portraits with great depth.

Eric will be demonstrating an animal subject in mixed media.
